A Writing Residency
The Writer’s Development Workshop
Our mission is to champion creativity by building spaces where artists can experiment, take risks, and develop their craft. That’s exactly what our development workshop is all about.
This year, over 500 playwrights from across the country submitted original one-act plays. We’ve selected six works to be developed and produced at the Skylight Theatre in the heart of Los Angeles.
Each playwright worked closely with professional directors and actors, culminating in a live staging of their play. Then, our judging panel and company members selected one writer to receive a Writing Residency in Paris, France!
2026 winning residency playwrights!
This year our winning Playwright is Cris Eli Blak! His writing shows a dedication to growth, delicacy, and authenticity and we are excited to support his developing and growing career!
Due to the success of the program one of our patrons was so moved that they asked to send an additional playwright to attend the writing residency in Paris. We couldn't be more excited to also send Akela Munsey to this season's residency!
